The offer we make is the offer you get for 7 days, when the car matches its description. If hidden or unreported damage is found at pickup, any adjustment is shown with photo evidence before you decide.

The X1 generations we buy

The first X1 sold in the United States, the rear-drive-based E84, ran from 2013 to 2015, followed by the front-drive-based F48 from 2016 to 2022. The current third-generation U11 arrived for 2023, larger and sold here only as the all-wheel-drive xDrive28i, with an electric iX1 offered in other markets but not the United States.

Early X1s feel like sporty rear-drive wagons, while 2016 and later models are front-biased crossovers with more interior room. Southern California examples usually escape rust, so mechanical and leak repairs, not corrosion, drive most sale decisions.

What we buy — your X1 included

Most 2010-and-newer cars

Sedans, SUVs, and vans from any maker, clean or with fixable issues.

Fixable issues welcome

Battery, glass, panels, and exterior damage from the 12-point checklist — each priced in plainly.

Trucks of any age

Pickups are the top of our want list — working trucks, high-mileage trucks, Japanese trucks included.

Japanese vehicles of any age

Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Subaru hold up in Southern California, and we price them that way.

Where the line is

We buy the cars the big guys reject — but we are not a junk buyer. These fall outside this buying program, and we would rather tell you now than waste your time:

  • No working key
  • Blown engine
  • Shot transmission
  • Major structural damage
  • Heavily stripped
  • Trash-filled or severely neglected

How selling your X1 works here

01

Tell us about the car

Year, make, model, mileage, and where it sits. A VIN speeds things up but is not required to start, and the pickup address tells us which local run the car joins.

02

Answer 12 condition questions

Wheels, battery, key, whether it starts and drives, the catalytic converter, and the rest — the same checklist our buyer verifies in person, so the offer is built on the car you actually have.

03

We review every application by hand and send one offer, guaranteed for 7 days when the car matches its description. Accept it and pickup is free anywhere in Orange County.

Common X1 problems we still buy

Timing chain problems on N20 engines

E84 X1s with the N20 turbo four are known for timing chain guide wear that can lead to chain failure and severe engine damage. A whining noise from the front of the engine is a recognized warning sign.

Oil and coolant leaks

Oil filter housing gaskets, valve cover gaskets, and plastic cooling-system parts leak with age and heat cycles on both early and later cars. Several small leaks often appear together at higher mileage.

Water pump and thermostat failure

Electric water pumps and thermostats on earlier engines fail without much warning and can trigger overheating and limp mode. Replacement is considerably more involved than on a conventional belt-driven pump.

Run-flat tire and suspension wear

Many X1s were delivered on run-flat tires that ride harshly and wear quickly, and front control-arm bushings wear with mileage. Owners often sell when tires, brakes, and suspension work all come due together.

Every one of these is a condition answer on the form — report it and it is priced in from the start, never discovered at pickup.

X1 seller questions

My X1 has over 150,000 miles. Is that a problem?

High mileage alone does not disqualify a X1. If it starts, drives, and has a working key, report the mileage honestly in the form and we will price the whole car, not just the odometer.

What X1 years do you buy?

We buy BMW X1 vehicles across the 2013–present range we commonly see, and we will look at older ones case by case. Condition matters more than the year — a high-mileage X1 that starts, drives, and has a working key is exactly what the form is for.

How much is my X1 worth?

It comes down to the individual car: year, mileage, trim, and the 12 condition answers. We review every application by hand and send one clear offer, guaranteed for 7 days when the car matches its description — no automated lowball and no haggling at the curb.

My X1 has timing chain problems on n20 engines. Will you still buy it?

In most cases, yes — that is a known X1 issue and it is priced into the offer from the condition answers you submit, not discovered at pickup. Describe it honestly and the offer already reflects it.
