How selling your TL works here

01

Describe your car

Enter the VIN to auto-fill the year, make, and model — or skip it for now and enter those details yourself. The VIN is optional at intake and mandatory before booking.

02

Complete the condition page

Answer the same 12 condition questions our buyer checks at pickup. The condition page defaults to no issues — open the checklist only if something applies.

03

Review the next step

See the offer path and share your number for follow-up. Any later changes wait for admin review.

The TL generations we buy

The TL began for 1996 as Acura's midsize sedan, replacing the Vigor with 2.5L five-cylinder and 3.2L V6 versions. A larger second generation ran 1999–2003, followed by the sharper, better-equipped third generation for 2004–2008 with an available six-speed manual and Type-S performance model. The fourth generation (2009–2014) grew again, added available SH-AWD all-wheel drive, and was replaced by the TLX for 2015.

Most TLs are front-drive V6 automatics; the 2004–2008 manual Type-S and the later SH-AWD cars are the enthusiast finds. State the generation and engine clearly, and keep timing-belt service records, since most versions use a belt-driven V6.

Common TL problems we still buy

Automatic transmission failure (1999–2003 and early cars)

The second-generation TL's five-speed automatic is one of Honda's most documented weak points, with clutch-pack wear causing slipping, harsh shifts, and complete failure, sometimes repeatedly. A rebuild often approaches the car's value, so owners frequently sell instead of repairing it again.

Dashboard cracking (2004–2008)

Third-generation dashboards commonly crack and split across the passenger side and around the airbag seam with age and heat exposure, and replacement dashboards are expensive and labor-intensive to fit. Many owners decide a cracked dash is the point to sell rather than restore the interior.

Timing belt and water pump service

The J-series V6 uses a timing belt due around 105,000 miles, usually replaced with the water pump and tensioners as one job. Skipping it risks serious engine damage, and owners facing the full service bill often choose to sell the car on instead.

Oil consumption and VCM wear (2009–2014)

Later 3.7L SH-AWD engines are reported to consume oil as piston rings wear, and variable-cylinder-management operation is linked to fouled plugs and misfires on some cars. Diagnosis can lead toward major engine work, which pushes many owners toward selling rather than rebuilding.

Every one of these is a condition answer on the form — report it and it is priced in from the start, never discovered at pickup.

What we buy — your TL included

Most 2010-and-newer cars

Sedans, SUVs, and vans from any maker, clean or with fixable issues.

Fixable issues welcome

Battery, glass, panels, and exterior damage from the 12-point checklist — each priced in plainly.

Trucks of any age

Pickups are the top of our want list — working trucks, high-mileage trucks, Japanese trucks included.

Japanese vehicles of any age

Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Subaru hold up in Southern California, and we price them that way.

Where the line is

We buy the cars the big guys reject — but we are not a junk buyer. These fall outside this buying program, and we would rather tell you now than waste your time:

  • No working key
  • Blown engine
  • Shot transmission
  • Major structural damage
  • Heavily stripped
  • Trash-filled or severely neglected

TL seller questions

Do you buy a TL that failed smog?

Yes. Smog failure is one of the 12 condition answers, so the offer accounts for it up front. You do not need to pay for diagnosis, repairs, or a retest before pickup.

What TL years do you buy?

We buy Acura TL vehicles across the 1996–2014 range we commonly see, and we will look at older ones case by case. Condition matters more than the year — a high-mileage TL that starts, drives, and has a working key is exactly what the form is for.

What happens on pickup day?

Our buyer checks the VIN, title, mileage, and the same condition items you submitted for your TL. If everything matches, you sign the transfer paperwork, receive payment, and hand over the keys — and the tow is free in Orange County.

Can I sell a TL with a lien or a lost title?

Yes to both — name the lender or pick the title situation that matches yours in the form. Complicated paperwork is part of what we handle, and we explain the correct next step before scheduling.
