The ILX generations we buy
The ILX (2013–2022) was Acura's entry-level sedan, based on the ninth-generation Civic platform. A 2016 refresh replaced the base powertrains with a 2.4-liter engine and an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a 2019 update sharpened the styling before the Integra nameplate replaced it for 2023.
All ILXs are front-wheel drive; engines were a 2.0-liter four, a 1.5-liter hybrid, and later a 2.4-liter four with a dual-clutch gearbox. It is the smallest sedan Acura sold in this period.

Dual-clutch transmission judder
The eight-speed DCT in 2016–2022 models can judder and hesitate at low speeds, with software updates and fluid service offering only partial improvement for some cars. Owners annoyed by low-speed behavior often sell rather than pursue transmission work.
Early hybrid and 2.0-liter automatic issues
The short-lived ILX Hybrid (2013–2014) and early 2.0-liter cars are now old, with hybrid battery age and automatic transmission wear becoming factors. These earliest cars are frequently sold as-is.
Suspension and road-noise wear
Worn struts, sway bar links, and wheel bearings are common on higher-mileage ILXs, and the model was always criticized for road noise. A tired-feeling front end is a typical reason sellers move up to something newer.
