What we buy — your Clubman included

Most 2010-and-newer cars

Sedans, SUVs, and vans from any maker, clean or with fixable issues.

Fixable issues welcome

Battery, glass, panels, and exterior damage from the 12-point checklist — each priced in plainly.

Trucks of any age

Pickups are the top of our want list — working trucks, high-mileage trucks, Japanese trucks included.

Japanese vehicles of any age

Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Subaru hold up in Southern California, and we price them that way.

Where the line is

We buy the cars the big guys reject — but we are not a junk buyer. These fall outside this buying program, and we would rather tell you now than waste your time:

  • No working key
  • Blown engine
  • Shot transmission
  • Major structural damage
  • Heavily stripped
  • Trash-filled or severely neglected

The Clubman generations we buy

The first Clubman (R55) ran from 2008 to 2014, stretching the hatchback into a small wagon with a single rear-hinged club door on the passenger side and split barn doors at the back. The second generation (F54) arrived for 2016 as a proper four-door wagon with available ALL4 all-wheel drive and, later, a 301-horsepower John Cooper Works version. Production ended after 2024.

The barn doors and the first generation's club door make these cars distinctive, so photograph and describe them accurately. State whether a second-generation car is front- or all-wheel drive, and name the Cooper, S, or John Cooper Works version clearly.

Common Clubman problems we still buy

Prince turbo engine faults (first generation S)

The R55 Clubman S uses the same Prince turbo engine as the Cooper S, with timing chain rattle, carbon buildup, high-pressure fuel pump failure, and oil consumption. Engine work on a niche wagon is hard to justify, so owners frequently sell.

Barn door, club door, and latch problems

The Clubman's split rear doors and rear-hinged club door rely on latches and seals that wear, leak, and misalign with age, and replacements are model-specific. Quirky doors are the car's charm until they stop sealing, at which point owners often sell.

Automatic transmission and clutch wear

Steptronic automatics can shift harshly with old fluid, and manual Cooper S cars wear clutches early when driven hard in traffic. Either job is expensive relative to the car's value, and that comparison is a common reason Clubmans change hands as-is.

Coolant and oil leaks in a tight engine bay

Thermostat housings, water pumps, valve covers, and oil filter housings leak across both generations, and Mini's compact engine bay makes labor the larger cost. An owner quoted for several leaks at once will often decide the wagon is simpler to sell.

Every one of these is a condition answer on the form — report it and it is priced in from the start, never discovered at pickup.

Clubman seller questions

Do you buy a Clubman that failed smog?

Yes. Smog failure is one of the 12 condition answers, so the offer accounts for it up front. You do not need to pay for diagnosis, repairs, or a retest before pickup.

How much is my Clubman worth?

It comes down to the individual car: year, mileage, trim, and the 12 condition answers. We review every application by hand and send one clear offer, guaranteed for 7 days when the car matches its description — no automated lowball and no haggling at the curb.

What happens on pickup day?

Our buyer checks the VIN, title, mileage, and the same condition items you submitted for your Clubman. If everything matches, you sign the transfer paperwork, receive payment, and hand over the keys — and the tow is free in Orange County.

Can I sell a Clubman with a lien or a lost title?

Yes to both — name the lender or pick the title situation that matches yours in the form. Complicated paperwork is part of what we handle, and we explain the correct next step before scheduling.
